Current_Reflection
The wall of the derelict electric power station is plated with silver leaves. The rough and abrasive concrete of the power station alternates to become a mirror, reflecting the surrounding environment and the self in the concrete and the actuality of the architectural object. Architecture and surroundings are merging and become reflective of one another.
‘Current_Reflection’ is a piece which is playing with the ambiguity of perception, the ambiguity of material qualities and their functions. Silver is a material with physical properties that oscillate between the ephemeral and the transmitting, between the reflecting and the absorbing.
The dichotomous qualities of silver are merged with those juxtaposed qualities of the abrasive concrete. The reflection created by the aggregation of the silver and the concrete is blurred and the attempt to hold onto the image perceived will be haunted by extinction.
