sight clearing
A windscreen wiper is installed onto an inside wall and will draw, leave marks, when rain is falling outside.
During everyday usage the windscreen wiper is clearing the car window from raindrops, snow and other watery weather residues. The windscreen wiper is an assistant and useful instrument.
The windscreen wiper clears the sight.
Installed inside, the windscreen wiper looses its usefullness and becomes a parabel of the functional. Rather than wiping something off the surface it leaves marks. While rain is falling outside it attempts to clear the surface inside. The rubber of the wiper is wearing off, leaving a drawing of the obsessive attempt to clean.
„sight clearing“ is playing with ideas of inside and outside and reverses mechanisms. It challenges our perception of how things are. “sight clearing” is a humorous and minimalist parable towards the everyday.
