surfacing is a video piece that depicts half of a face showing a mouth covered by gold. Gradually the tongue is licking the mouth free of the gold. Gold is one of the pure elements, mostly used for the production of jewellery. Gold ennobles and decorates things and people. Hence, it also possesses the ability to make something less valuable nobler but also covers up what lies beneath. Can that which may be hidden beneath gleam through or even surface?
